The ST’s windshield spray system is no longer working. It’s been in and out for some time requiring me to push the button like 500 times before it worked. Here are some facts to help us get some possible diagnoses.

- There is fluid in the reservoir

- The rear sprayer works fine.

- The wipers, which are automatically triggered when you spray, don’t turn on when I trigger it. This leads me to believe that it is an issue with the system than any specific part, hose or nozzle .

- The wipers still work on their own.

My personal theories are:

Rats have chewed a wire somewhere
Random gremlins. FERD PROBLEMS AMIRIGHT?
I pierced a wire installing the lights
Some sensor/relay is borked somewhere
Lines are frozen
Nozzles are blocked by excessive waxing

I would check to see if the pump is working. I get the feeling it is not and the sensor that triggers it is borked.

alternitivly,. the motor is burnt out, from maybe the last 2 options

“Random gremlins. FERD PROBLEMS AMIRIGHT?”

Most likely. Could be a fuse? But rats are also an option.

You have a damaged wire going to the front pump or a bad front pump . Modern sprayer systems check load before operating wipers, and if no load is found, don’t run the wipers on the assumption there’s no spray. Fiesta to my knowledge has a separate rear pump, which is why it continues to work.

Repeated application eventually working tells me you have a wire break that intermittently makes contact. Running continuity checks should reveal the broken wire in very short order.

Also, my passenger window doesn’t roll up/down so well in the heat. And my paint is pealing. And my car overheated when I would drive uphill or use the AC.

But damn if I don’t love the thing.

Yeah, my passenger window is still busted. One day I'll fix it.

Given that both the wipers and sprayer are inop here, I’d suspect the switch or something close to it. Got a wiring diagram?

Sounds like a switch/wiring.

If it were a fluid line blocked, wipers would still trigger with spray.

Did you have de-icer in there or good ol’tap water?

I’ve frozen pumps before, they usually crack and then burn out.

I don’t, but I could find one I’m sure.

it sounds like either the switch or the  module is done. The wipers would respond if it was a pump or nozzle problem.

I hope it’s a fairl y straightforward circuit, and not routed through some stoo pid control module...

Water-Meth Injection. It’s a workaround to running out of fuel.

It’s not rice. It’s cooling combustion temps. It’s a workaround the 300whp limit.

Have a friend trigger the sprayer while you’re under the hood. Listen for the whine of an electric pump. No whine, check connectors and relay. Whine but no spray, pull the tube leading to the nozzle, hit the spray. No juice from tube but whiny noise, run pressurized air backwards through the line. Juice comes out tube, run air through nozzle backwards.

The other possibility is a multifunction switch fail. The button no worky.
